1. Purpose This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) outlines the expectations and responsibilities of all users accessing and utilizing the Operator Training Academy Moodle Learning Management System (LMS). The purpose of this policy is to ensure a safe, productive, and legally compliant environment for learning and collaboration, aligned with the requirements of Army Regulation (AR) 25-2, "Information Assurance."


2. Scope This policy applies to all users of the Operator Training Academy Moodle LMS, including but not limited to students, instructors, administrators, and guests. By accessing the Operator Training Academy Moodle LMS, users agree to abide by the terms outlined in this policy and all applicable regulations, including AR 25-2.

3. General Guidelines

  • The Operator Training Academy Moodle LMS is to be used for educational purposes only, such as accessing course materials, submitting assignments, participating in discussions, and collaborating on academic projects.

  • Users are responsible for safeguarding their login credentials and ensuring they follow authentication practices outlined in AR 25-2. Sharing passwords or allowing unauthorized access to accounts is strictly prohibited.

  • All communications and content within the LMS must adhere to professional and respectful standards in accordance with Department of the Army (DA) policies.


4. Prohibited Activities The following activities are strictly prohibited:

  • Uploading, sharing, or distributing materials that infringe on copyright laws or intellectual property rights.

  • Posting or sharing content that is discriminatory, harassing, offensive, or otherwise inappropriate.

  • Attempting to gain unauthorized access to system accounts, data, or resources.

  • Introducing malware, viruses, or other harmful software into the LMS.

  • Using the LMS for commercial, political, or personal profit activities unrelated to official or educational purposes.

  • Impersonating other users or misrepresenting identity in any form.

  • Violating any provisions of AR 25-2 or other applicable Army cybersecurity and information assurance policies.


5. User Responsibilities

  • Users must ensure that all submissions, including assignments, discussions, and other contributions, are their original work unless properly cited.

  • Users should report any suspicious activities, technical issues, or policy violations immediately to the designated LMS administrator or the Information Assurance Security Officer (IASO).

  • Users must comply with all relevant institutional, Army, and federal regulations while using the Operator Training Academy Moodle LMS.


6. Data Privacy and Security

  • Users must respect the privacy and confidentiality of others by not accessing or sharing personal information without explicit consent.

  • Personal data collected through the LMS will be handled in accordance with AR 25-22 (Records Management) and related Army regulations.

  • The LMS employs appropriate security measures as required by AR 25-2 to protect user data and maintain system integrity.


7. Enforcement

  • Violations of this policy may result in disciplinary actions, including but not limited to account suspension, removal from courses, or referral to institutional or military disciplinary committees.

  • Serious breaches will be reported to the relevant authorities, including the Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) if necessary.


8. Policy Review This Acceptable Use Policy will be reviewed annually or as required to ensure compliance with AR 25-2, AR 25-22, and other applicable regulations.
